The 2027 Ryder Cup will take place at Adare Manor in Limerick from September 13-19. It will be the second time Ireland has hosted the Ryder Cup, after The K Club in 2006.
The 100th anniversary of the biennial contest will include three build-up days, Tuesday September 14 – Thursday September 16, followed by three days of competition between Europe and the United States, from Friday September 17- Sunday September 19, 2027.
The site capacity for Adare Manor will be approximately 55,000 per day.
The Ryder Cup does not have a fixed stadia like other sports and therefore all the key infrastructure has to be built at the venue (eg grandstands, hospitality). That process will begin towards the end of Q1 of 2027 and plans will focus on enhancing the fan experience.
Team Europe announced Luke Donald as its Captain on March 4. Donald previously led Europe to victory in Rome and New York and will attempt to become the first Captain in the 100 year history of the Ryder Cup to win three times consecutively. Qualification criteria has yet to be announced but the qualifying period normally begins towards the end of the summer and runs for approximately 12 months.
Team US is yet to name its Captain. The PGA of America makes that decision.
Tickets for the Ryder Cup are expected to go on sale this Spring. Full details will be provided at the time including various community initiatives aimed at ensuring a wider demographic as possible can enjoy this major global sporting event which is set to be one of the biggest ever to be staged in Ireland.
More than 2,000 volunteers will be required to help Ryder Cup Europe stage the Ryder Cup. They will fulfil two types of volunteer role: the traditional on-course Marshal role and a new ‘Ambassador’ role that will support the overall fan experience and the smooth running of the event.
The application process to be a volunteer began at the start of February and closes on April 1. So far, more than 35,000 people from 87 different countries have applied.
Richard Atkinson, Chief Ryder Cup Officer, said: “There may be 16 months still to go until the 2027 Ryder Cup comes to Adare Manor and Limerick, but there is already considerable excitement across the island of Ireland. We are making good progress with all elements of our planning and preparation for next year’s event, which is set to be one of the biggest sporting events ever to be staged in Ireland.
