Tricia Derwin

Tricia Derwin, Adare native and active Community member is known by most people as the local ‘lollypop lady”, a role she has held with Limerick City and Co. Council since September 1999.

From a very young age ,she experienced lots of success through her local Camogie and badminton Clubs and has been a member of many Voluntary Community Groups throughout her life. She is also presently one of the directors of Adare Community Trust, ( A.C.T) and an administrator of the very successful social media platform ‘Destination Adare’.

A proud Adare woman she is best known for her leadership and organisational skills, and was instrumental in creating one of Adare’s biggest success stories by bringing the St. Patricks Day parade back to the village.

“I have a huge passion for Adare and I feel very lucky and grateful for the wonderful Community in which I am part of. In my role as school warden and seeing children on a daily basis through my work, I often thought, wouldn’t it be great to give these children the opportunity to take part in a St. Patricks Day Parade in Adare”.

Through tireless work, passion and dedication, she, together with a group of like minded people, formed a solid committee who have successfully planted the seeds by hosting the first St. Patricks day parade in Adare in 2022 after an absence of 23 long years.

“I am delighted to see that the parade has grown from strength to strength since it’s reinstatement and I would encourage new members to join our organisation in ensuring
the continued success of the parade. Keeping the momentum going can be challenging at times, but we continue to strive in staging outstanding parades.

Extensive planning for next year is already underway and the theme for Parade 2026 has been set as ‘There’s no business like Show Business ‘. We look forward to welcoming all Community groups and businesses to participate again by embracing the theme, where everybody will once again be provided with the platform on which to showcase their talents.”

Tricia continues to maintain her energy and enthusiasm as part of the Adare St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee in delivering another great spectacle for the entire Community in 2026.
