Michael Collins

For 36 years Michael has been at the heart of the community in Adare as a publican. He started working in the bar in 1989 and bought the bar from his father, Pat in 2001. Since stepping behind the bar Michael has endeared himself to locals and visitors alike who visit and enjoy this warm and friendly bar; a tradition that was fostered by Pat, who passed away in 2022, and who is remembered with great affection.

Michael and his wife Mary supported by a friendly staff, have created a meeting place for neighbours, sports teams, fund raisers, and families
celebrating milestones. Whether it’s hosting charity quiz nights, supporting local musicians or running his golf society Michael believes in giving back to the community that has supported the bar over the years.

Apart from being a very busy bar, Collin’s is renowned for serving quality food; the bar has been considered an essential stepping stone to higher education as the bar has always given part-time employment to students. His dad, Pat, used to refer to the bar as the university of life as it fostered excellent communication skills for those students, lucky enough to get a few hours behind the bar.

Michael and Mary have three children Eoghan, Emma and Lauren. Michael is a keen golfer and is a fountain of information for the hoards of golfers who visit the bar in search of good food and drink and tips on how to play the local courses. He’s looking forward to the excitement that the Ryder Cup will bring
to Adare.
