Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk and current sixth best golfer in the world, Collin Morikawa, enjoy trip to Croker

JP McManus is best known for his love of ‘the small ball’ and Limerick hurling but he brought some top American golfers to enjoy Gaelic football clashes.

The businessman and philanthropist took US Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk and Collin Morikawa, currently ranked sixth in the Official World Golf Ranking, to Croke Park on Saturday.

The trio took in the Tailteann Cup final between Wicklow and Down and Mayo and Louth in the All-Ireland semi-final.

Wicklow-Wexford TD Brian Brennan shared a photo of himself with JP, Collin and Jim on Instagram.

He posted: “At the Wicklow game, I tried to convince the world’s number six top golfer Collin Morikawa to support the Garden County.

“It was lovely to engage again with a man I admire, JP McManus, along with American captain Jim Furyk, to get an update on how plans are progressing for the Ryder Cup.”

It is coming up on a year to go to the 46th Ryder Cup between Europe and the United States in Adare Manor between Friday, September 17 and Sunday, September 19 2027.
