Big plans for Adare Heritage Centre ahead of Ryder Cup

Vertical expansions of the centre are among proposed plans

Adare Heritage Centre may almost double in size within the next 20 months.

The centre was a major talking point at this week’s Adare-Rathkeale council meeting.

‘Part 8’ was passed at the meeting, which means developments can progress to planning. The proposal for ‘part 8’ was passed without any counter-motions.

Councillor John O’Donoghue of Independent Ireland was at the meeting, he told Live 95 there’s plans to bring the centre “back to basics and start in the new”. He also said there would be a second floor, more toilet facilities and more retail spaces.

The Independent Ireland councillor says Adare and the surrounding area need to sell itself as a top spot for tourism ahead of the Ryder Cup in 2027, and to enhance what is already there.

After the meeting councillors were walked around Askeaton Swimming Pool and upgrades to the building and O’Donoghue said works are moving along well.
