Adare heritage centre

Golf
Adare Manor Golf Club was established in 1900 and is one of Limericks finest woodland courses. Set amongst the old ruins of the Franciscan Abbey (1300ad) and Adare Castle(1341ad), Adare Manor Golf Club is steeped in history with magnificant surroundings.
Adare Golf Club is set on the grounds of the Adare Manor Hotel. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, this course offers a fantastic challenge to both amateur and professional golfers alike. This magnificant championship course has been host to the 2002 & 2003 Irish Seniors Open, 2003 Irish P.G.A. Championship and the Inaugural Ladies World Cup of Golf.

Pitch& Putt
The Adare Pitch & Putt course is located just 5 minutes walk from all the ammenities in Adare. The course is open over 10 yaers and kept in great condition all year round. You can bring your own clubs or rent them at the course. Prices start from €4 for juniors and €5 for adults.

Carrigogunnell Castle
The castle is superbly situated on a volcanic rock with a marvellous view overlooking the whole Shannon estuary. It consists of a multi-sided enclosure, fortified by a strong wall probably of 15th century date. 8km from Adare, and to the west of Limerick. It is an imposing structure with two towers (15th and 16th C.), unfortunately in a poor state of preservation. From the castle there are fine views of the Shannon and the surrounding area.

Foynes Flying Boat Museum
The museum recalls the 1930's and 40's when the port of Foynes was the fulcrum point for air traffic between the US and Europe. The famous flying boats were frequent visitors, carrying on board a diverse range of people from celebrities to refugees. The museum recalls the era with exhibits and graphic illustrations. You can see original footage of the flying boats. The museum is situated in the original terminal building with its Radio and Weather Room. Foynes is located 14km from Adare.

Hunt Museum
The hunt Museum exhibits one of Irelands greatest private collections of art and antiques. You can view art by Leonardo da Vinci, Picasso, Renoir and Yeats, and stunning work from medieval times. Examine weapon and tools from the Celtic Past and visit the jewellery gallery, where the gold cross anecdotally linked to Mary Queen of Scots is displayed. Located in Limerick City, 8km from Adare.

Irish Palatine Heritage Centre
In 1709 several hundred families of German origin settled in Ireland. Known as the Palatines they established roots mainly in Rathkeale. A greatly extended display of artefacts, photographs, graphics etc. The complex represents the Irish Palatine experience from their German places of origin to their colonisation and settlement in Ireland.

King johns Castle

An Archaeological gem of international significance. Includes the remains of stone circles and standing stones, ancient burial chambers and Cairns. Artefacts have been found dating back to the Bronze Age. Lough Gur is 20km from Adare.
